What led to the recent downturn of the financial market? Where is it heading? Let's talk about it!

Join Tom Bradley, the CEO of Steadyhand Investments (former CEO of PH&N), and Chris Stephenson, the Investor Specialist at Steadyhand, shed some light on the markets and the recent turmoil. Also, discuss how their funds have fared and what challenges they've faced. Ask questions about where they think the market is heading, what does this mean to new grads and summer interns.



Bloomberg Tutorial: Basic Navigation and Essential Functions
Thursday, November 13th, 5PM @ David Lam Computer Room
Come join Sauder's first ever Bloomberg tutorial! The presentation will go over how to navigate Bloomberg's system and introduce essential functions for first time users. No prior experience with Bloomberg is required to attend. However, financial market knowledge is necessary. The tutorial takes place at 5pm on Thursday, November 13th, 2008 at the David Lam Library computer room.

The tutorial will be run by Davies Town. He is Bloomberg Equity Certified and is currently finishing his undergraduate at Sauder.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn what ALL the finance professionals use on a daily basis. There is limited seating so sign up early before seats run out. Registration begins on Monday, November 9th at the David Lam Library Circulation Desk.

Finance Mock Interviews
Tuesday, November 4th, 9am-4pm @ BCC
If you are applying for finance internships in January, or are a fourth year student looking for a job after graduation, you will want to practice your interview skills, especially for finance positions. Finance interviews are known to be difficult and stressful. Types of questions range from technical valuation questions to brainteasers like "How do you move Mount Fuji?" The only way to get better is to practice, practice, practice!

An analyst and an associate from Macquarie (investment bank) and a head recruiter from Edward Jones will be interviewing YOU for you to get practice. Sign up for the available spots on our club board in Henry Angus.

Are you interested in becoming a part of this year's executive team? If so, we are recruiting one 1st year Rep, one 2nd year Rep, and one 3rd Year Rep, as well as a new position this year called the Bulls & Bears Publications Coordinator. A short description of the roles are described as follows:

1st Year Representative - Assists with info sessions and various events

2nd Year Representative - Assists with Career Night, company visits, volunteer coordination and various events

3rd Year Representative - Assists with Wine & Cheese, competitions and various events

Bulls & Bears Publications Coordinator - Official liaison between UBC Finance Club and Carnegie Mellon University's Bulls & Bears Press. Coordinates student volunteer writers to contribute articles to the Bulls & Bears Press that will be read by 40 Universities across the World.

VP Administration - Arrange meetings, is responsible for minutes, and keeping every exec on time with their tasks. Checks email on a regular basis and Writes weekly newsletters to members.

Volunteers - Help out at various events
